CRASH!
We want to reduce the number of young people killed or seriously injured on Essex Roads to under 100 for the first time ever.
We are working in partnership with Essex County Fire and Rescue Service and have set up the CRASH! Subgroup.
It is morally unacceptable that so many young people are dying on the roads. Some of us have experienced the terrible grief that affects a school/ family following the death of young people in a car crash.

We are going to hold a conference event in October and invite all schools and colleges to send pupils and staff. Our event is aimed at Year 11 onwards.
Our event will focus on an actual Case History for road traffic collision involving a young person from Essex. We will have the actual police officers and fire officers who attended the collision as well as the victim who, at only 17, is now confined to a wheelchair.
There will be a series of workshops led by the different people involved to really get people thinking about the huge impact a road accident has.
Each school and college that attends the event will take away a pack containing a lesson plan based around the same case history. We want the attendees to deliver the session back in their schools and colleges and cascade our message. We hope that by having met the real people involved in the case history it will have a bigger impact on the young people delivering their own sessions.
We will go back to schools and colleges and check on their progress and the impact the session has had.
We are currently working in partnership with Essex Fire and Rescue service.
After meeting with and presenting our action plan to the Casualty Reduction Board,we also now have their full support.
We have successfully received funding from the Youth Opportunity Fund that will enable us to run our event and produce our packs as described in the first section.
