What is the Young Essex Assembly (YEA)?
The Young Essex Assembly is the elected youth council for Essex.
75 young people from around Essex who are aged between 11 and 19 have been elected to represent the voice of all young people in the county and campaign to make a positive difference to their lives. As a member of the YEA You will be listened to by the County Council, your local council and by other groups working with or for young people.
How does the YEA fit into the scheme of things?
The Young Essex Assembly (YEA) represents young people across Essex. Information and campaigns feed up and down; right from your village youth group to the UK Youth Parliament (UKYP).
YEA Structure
Sub-groups
There are 4 meetings or Sittings of the whole YEA each year, but smaller sub-groups meet once a month. Each member of the YEA joins one sub-group. The Sittings are held all over Essex but the sub-groups meet at County Hall in Chelmsford.

Elections
In the first week of December 2008 the YEA elections took place. Nearly 25,000 young people across Essex voted. Those young people who were successfully elected onto the YEA will stand a two year term of office.
